Teachers, Schools, Government, Community Centres, Outreach Centers,
Cultural organizations, etc. may plan and offer all the services we can
imagine to empower and launch an individual's career, profession, etc.
but NOTHING, NOTHING works if students are not committed, engaged
and get involved in their own lives!
REPEATING AN ACTIVITY A THOUSAND TIMES DOES NOT GUARANTEE

MY PLATFORM:
1) A MYSP is based on facts.
We have great teachers in all our schools, ALL our schools are great.
Public education is the opportunity for children from many backgrounds
to share, understand and respect the spectrum the world offers with a
secular environment.
Our readers and supporters understand that regardless of a candidate's
ambitions, goals, ideas, etc. these are useless without a roadmap.
In our current educational system, this guide is known as a Multi-Year
Strategic Plan or MYSP.
The MYSP not only outlines a possible course of action but proposes
options, directives, hints, approaches, probable solutions, etc. which
educational institutions can see as viable partners in assisting in
education and all it entails.
Education should be a sincere tool offered by governments to its citizens
which allows them to become confident, understand their rights and
obligations towards themselves, their fellow citizens and the world,
whilst they pursue happiness and make their contribution to society.
Subjects are to be taught with no strings attached, impartial, which is the
only way to present a reality to an individual at a given time. Biased input
can only bring forth the wrong solution.
I will endeavor to present this scheme to my fellow Trustees as creating
an updated Multi-year Strategic Plan which gives our students an edge
in this super competitive world. It is of utmost importance.
Life is changing, politics is changing, societies are expanding and
contracting, employment is different, interests here and there, the world
all the more offers a canvass to experiment the new, the improved,
the surprising, the rare.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Ontario Human
Rights Code make EVERYONE equal under the law and therefore there
are no special groups in our Country, Province or City.
A nation conformed of individuals who encouraged by their life struggles,
beliefs and social, political, economic background agree that it is
necessary to bring forth a balanced productive, competitive, harmonious
environment which will result in working together for a common goal;
well-being. is to be admired.
There is no reason to focus on the different but on the positive,
the common ground.
Basic values, principles, a cordial greeting, excuse me, thank you...
is not hard at all and welcomed anywhere by everyone!
2) Based on our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the
Ontario Human Rights Code, we understand that: we all have options,
but at the same time, it is our responsibility to uphold our fair share.
In the case of Education, the players, parts, factors, actors, involved are:
Each actor has a task a duty to carry out and cannot go beyond their
limits for it will otherwise create conflict, stress, confusion and anarchy
in the system.
The pertinent players can only do so much and need the students’ full
attention, involvement, and dedication to complete the circle of success.
Nothing can be achieved without hard work, consistency and personal
challenge. The results are individual but with a broad and social influence.
The person who becomes a student has rights and obligations.
The goal of EDUCATION:
a.- teach you the basics
b.- present the options
c.- offer some tools
As you are aware, we have many overcrowded schools, others are on
the verge of closure. With an overhaul of the MYSP -Multi-Year Strategic
Plan-, implementation of an excellence program such as the International
Baccalaureate (IB), teacher academic and professional support, adequate
materials, etc.we will eliminate today's optional attendance system as
all public schools will offer great standardized education.
Ensuring that our teachers, resources, and facilities are at the
top level and comply with maximum world-class standards across
the board, Public schools will be the place to be educated and work in.
Proud Teachers, proud staff, proud students, proud graduates, proud
citizens!
The regular presence of the Trustee in School meetings, with
representatives of the teachers, students, staff and parents are pivotal.
Planning and programming do not come out of the blue but from trial
and error, implementation, testing, fine-tuning, raw data, and facts.
3) We know other institutions cannot carry out the TDSB's role, we need
partners in education; other schools, universities, public, and private
institutions/organizations, local, regional, national, international,
interdisciplinary, multi-disciplinary entities, individuals. groups, small,
medium, large business, entrepreneurs, athletes, inventors, high profile
personalities, the common citizen, etc. which/who can mentor, coach our
students offering hands-on, real-life experience so they can make an
educated decision.
4) There is no magic in education as in other areas of the natural world.
If the student does not push him or herself, nothing will happen the
results will speak for themselves.
Initial years are mechanical, the mind and body acquire from the
environment certain information and develop numerous traits, habits,
reactions, etc. and most of our responses are automatic, based on our
body's survival mode and brains reaction to the known and unknown.
As children, we memorize and repeat. Our brains, body, etc. search
and "compute" data.
As youths, we are engaging in ways to communicate and listen to
others. Words are one directional, they have one meaning. This is a
period for the growth and explosion of feelings.
On the other hand, our system comps us with a new set of skills and
abilities based on what we have assimilated on such experiences and
settings. The more we cultivate any of these acquired traits, the more
proactive, the more achievable the positive results are and if personal
satisfaction is involved they may well transform into a career, calling,
profession, etc.
Teenage years are full of learning from others to make sense of our
surroundings still too early to make proper justifications, decisions, and
absolute conclusions. This is a stage where mind and body encourage
us to put ourselves out there and see what happens.
As young adults, we learn to listen and breakdown. We collect all sorts
of language forms and look for a variety of possible meanings, we are
looking for a message and use language to convey our feelings, emotions,
thoughts, ideas, aspirations, doubts. There are still not many solid
conclusions but we can now give our opinion based on what we have
gathered and processed. Learning is never-ending.
Soon schooling will be online and impersonal as many other forms of
employment we see: cashiers, public services, public transportation,
customer service, banking, deliveries, to name a few. Society must
prepare on many fronts to keep up with the trends.
5) Student testing in all subjects and fields is a must, we can't just pretend
we are doing well considering the tools, great teachers and support we
have available. It is imperative to demonstrate how well our students have
assimilated, understood, applied, recognized their classroom material.
The results of the testing scheme should not be regarded as modes to
discredit or reduce any form of support to a school, on the contrary, it
should be a call to investigate, prepare and implement sets of correctives
to improve the condition of the students in that school.
Other manners of testing should be applied in the last years of schooling
which will enable students to identify their career alternatives. These
tests take into account an individual’s personality, attitude,
aptitude, competence, grades, skills, abilities, potential, etc. allowing
students to better understand their future professional choices, making
sure that out of the 2 or 3 possible results one will stand out and feel
just right.
We would all like to be lawyers, architects, doctors, and nurses, but if do
not have what it takes, our lives will not be what we expected. We can’t
push what is not right, all types of employment are dignified.
Equality of opportunity is the key to confident, secure, strong-willed,
visionary, respectful, responsible and ever productive students/individuals
in a society which moves in leaps and bounds!
6) All schools should have French language classes starting from grade
6 once English has established itself in the student's brain. Because French
is, after all, the second official language of Canada, we work on finding
a new approach to language teaching as the current system has failed,
we have French classes for years and it just isn't working!
7) Students have got to get involved not wait for external encouragement,
this does not always happen in real life. Students should also motivate
themselves and each other to study, compete, investigate, do sports,
complete their homework, read, etc. and succeed in any field. Students
need to come to grasp that their parents and family members are making
incredible efforts working 2 jobs or odd jobs to make ends meet!
We have spoiled our kids in sacrificing a moment of peace.
Having said that, it is time to realize that family planning is a must,
regardless of certain views, a family that struggles in the material and
economic world does not have a happy life and all sorts of situation
derive from the lack of satisfaction of basic physical needs.
This is our cause, with sincere undisclosed and uninterpreted dialogue,
no reading between the lines, no guessing games, etc. your contribution,
and ideas can make a difference.
Give me the opportunity to be your voice, together we can do it! so...
